FAQ

How much smaller will my PDF get?

Typically 5–15%, depending on the source. Already-optimized PDFs have less room to shrink. Image-heavy PDFs will benefit far more once image re-encoding ships in V2 (projected 50–80%).

Will quality drop?

No. V1 only rewrites object streams and strips metadata — images, fonts and text keep identical pixels. The savings are purely structural.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser with pdf-lib — the file never leaves your device.

Are encrypted PDFs supported?

Not in V1. Password-protected PDFs raise an error — remove protection first.

Why does the output sometimes grow?

For highly optimized originals, the rewrite can add a few KB. When that happens, the tool shows "no further reduction" and lets you download the original.
